Allergic reaction, symptoms and causes
Spring has reached its maximum splendor, the air is filled with all the scents and colors of nature, but not only, even pollens, among the main culprits of the allergic reaction, which can take different profiles, be more or less frequent and annoying. When it comes to allergy and allergic reaction, it is not only the fault of spring and pollen, here are all the symptoms and possible causes.
The allergic reaction: what is it?
The allergic reaction is a manifestation that occurs in the presence of an allergy, is the hostile and abnormal reaction put in place by the organism, in the presence of a triggering factor, towards "harmless" substances, which it does not recognize as such.
The substances that trigger the exaggerated response of the organism, the alergic reaction, are called "allergens", precisely because they are able to cause the hostile reaction.
The allergic reaction: how it occurs
All the allergens' fault: when one or more of these substances come into contact with the body, because inhaled, ingested, or even through the skin and mucous membranes, the immune system reacts, in allergic people, because it recognizes the allergen as a harmful agent.
Allergic individuals, or, better, their immune system, reacts excessively to contact with these substances, producing a high amount of antibodies called Immunoglobulin E or "IgE" and triggering the allergic reaction.
IgE is bound to mast cells, cells present throughout the body. When they come into contact with the allergen, the mast cells are activated, releasing various substances that propagate in the tissues, giving rise to the inflammatory process and therefore to the typical symptoms of the allergic reaction.
The allergic reaction: symptoms and causes
The symptoms that characterize the allergic reaction vary depending on the type of allergy and the type of allergen, may be visible, above all, on the throat, eyes and skin. You can trigger respiratory disorders, such as colds, sneezing, coughing, dermatological, such as skin irritation, inflammation and redness or, in severe cases, systemic.
Allergy and the resulting allergic reaction can be triggered by a number of possible causes. The main allergens are pollen, produced by plants during flowering, mites, molds, pets, food and drugs.
To deepen the topic, here are some suggestions:
